#BerryBlunt: Tamar Braxton Says Akon Did Not Discover Lady Gaga

We’ve all heard the story. Akon “found” Lady Gaga while she was working as a songwriter for Interscope Records, and then signed her to his record label, Konvict Music.

Well, according to Tamar Braxton, it’s all a lie.

Tamar Braxton’s (youngest) sister, the newest reality tv star who’s on the hit shows “The Braxton Family Values” and “Tamar and Vince.” The second show is with her husband, who happens to be the huge music manager, Vince Herbert. He is currently Lady Gaga’s manager, which is where she’s basing her story on as she announced it in an interview with New York radio station Power 105.1:

Why would she [Lady Gaga] mention Akon for? He’s a liar and the truth ain’t in him. What was the story he told? Because I was there when [Vince] discovered Lady Gaga and Akon was nowhere near. I’m just trying to be honest. I mean, from what I know, is that REDONE was his producer and so that’s how he got that credit. You know how people be stealing peoples publishing and stuff like that […] and that’s how that happened, but he didn’t find her on Myspace like this one [points to Vince] did. He didn’t find her on the roller-skates with the bikini top. I’m sorry I just don’t like it when people be lying like that. Just tell the truth. He needs to sit down in all seats in Yankee stadium.

Ouch.

Well Tamar says that her husband was the one that found le Gaganator on Myspace but wasn’t Akon the first one to feature her in mainstream music, like the “Just Dance” video?
